Math with Mrs. Reed
The Class: |
The Teacher: |
Do's and Don't's: |
I took algebra 2 freshman year, the class was like a typical math class. It was broken up into units and you would just have to do a portfolio, homework and a test for each unit. |
You might not have her but Mrs. Reed is an amazing teacher, she teaches math in a way that I prefer compared to other teachers. It's more self paced I guess. She is great as long as yo do what you're supposed to. |
Do take notes during class, show your work, and save the formula sheets. Don't talk during class, get rid of old homework, or be on your phone. |
Spanish with Sra. Rice
The Class: |
The Teacher: |
Do's and Don't's: |
Most freshman take this class and for good reason. In spanish we get to learn lots of vocab and language rules as well as participating in some parts of their culture. |
Senora Rice is very kind and forgiving as long as you do what she asks. She is a great character and will sometimes talk in spanish so you better study if you want understand her all the time. |
Do the VHL work, study vocab, and practice speaking spanish. Don't say bad words in spanish (she'll know), procrastinate when you have homework, or use google translate. |
Biomed with Mrs. Nielson
The Class: |
The Teacher: |
Do's and Don't's: |
Nielson is a great teacher and definitly one of the coolest here at SVT. She also rides a motorcycle which is awesome. |
Biomed is a lab science class taken freshman year. In this class you get to learn about the huge medical field including things like epidemics, bacteria, mitosis, and our class even got concussion certified. |
Do listen to the instructions, keep up on work, and do your career journals. Don't mess around during class if your work isn't done, procrastinate on your career journals, or expect the answers to be always explicitly given to you. |
Engineering with Sal
The Class: |
The Teacher: |
Do's and Don't's: |
You might not have Sal as he is hoping to become the senior manufacturing teacher. He may seem rough around the edges but he really cares about your learning and growth. |
Intro to Engineering was an interesting class. We get to dive into some computer modelling work as well as the design process, coming up with an Ecybermission project on the way. |
Do get your CAD work done, ask questions, and be respectful of Sal's stuff. Don't forget about Ecybermission, get on Sal's bad side, or be obnoxious during class. |
Yearbook with Mrs. Shultz
The Class: |
The Teacher: |
Do's and Don't's: |
Our class was the first one to be a dedicated yearbook class. This class is what you expect you get to work on the yearbook and have lots of free time. |
Mrs. Shultz is very nice and helpful but she often gets too busy to help everyone. |
Do complete your work before messing around, pay attention to your surroundings, and talk quietish. Don't make a huge mess in her room, procrastinate, or be rude/disrespectful. |
Cybersecurity with Mrs. Farrow
The Class: |
The Teacher: |
Do's and Don't's: |
Mrs. Farrow is one of the most laid back teachers I have ever met. She is very kind and helpful an dshe has a ton of experience in her field. |
Cybersecurity was a very cool elective to take. You get to learn a much better understanding of how computors work and how to stay safe when using them. |
Do get your work done in class, keep going if you have extra time, and participate in discussions. Don't disrespect Mrs. Farrow, keep related topics to yourself, or fail any labs or tests. (you can retake them) |
English with Mr. Johnson
The Class: |
The Teacher: |
Do's and Don't's: |
Mr. Johnson was a new teacher this year. He is very open to discussion and will talk about most topics with you. |
This is mostly typical english class. We have lots of book assignments but we branch out into other types of media too. |
Do read the instructions, pay attention during videos, and ask questions. Don't get behind on work, bring up politics unprepared, or get very off topic in your discussions. |
PE/Health with Mr. Cunningham/Mrs. Loncon
The Class: |
The Teacher: |
Do's and Don't's: |
Mrs. Loncon left halfway through the year to have a baby and Mr. Cunningham was her replacement. You probably won't have Mr. Cunningham next year because he will be teaching elsewhere. |
This is a typical PE class except we do Health for one semester. In health we dive into the Helth curriculum learning how to stay safe and healthy along the way. |
Do participate in class, try your best during PE, and get the health work done.Don't neglect dressing down, be prepared for workouts, or be a poor sport. |
